Searching the Stock Center Plasmid Database

You may search the database by using either a full-text search or a field-based search. The full text search will look for any of the exact whole words you enter (no wild cards) and return the results sorted by name. The field-based search allows you to set Boolean parameters for combinations of fields. Neither search is case-sensitive.

Field-based Search

The available fields are Plasmid Name, Base Pairs, Source, Publications, Vector Type, E. coli Selection, Tetrahymena Selection, Selection Cassette, Expression Cassette, and Notes.

  • You can search for up to two terms in each of two separate fields. Use the drop-down boxes to select a field, then type text into at least one of the boxes below it. Check the NOT box to exclude a term and toggle the AND/OR drop-down to refine your search within a field.
  • Use a percent sign ( % ) to match 0 or more characters.
  • Use an underscore ( _ ) as a single character wildcard.
  • Use BETWEEN value1 AND value2 to define a range of base pair lengths, e.g. BETWEEN 500 AND 1000.
