Strain NameBTU1-94c (G3-B)
AKA
SpeciesT. thermophila
Genetic Descriptionmic still from VB1 cell (btu1[āˆ†2,3,4]/btu1[āˆ†2,3,4]; BTU1 has M--- ( REI removed at start of coding); no longer taxol hypersensitive or oryzalin resistant since back to wt L350)
MAC Knockins/outsRemoved the amino acids REI at positions 2,3,4 ibeta tubulin 1 gene
MIC Knockins/outs
Gene of InterestBTU1 (TTHERM_00348510)
OriginJody Bowen
PublicationsGaertig J, Thatcher TH, Gu L, Gorovsky MA. 1994. Electroporation-mediated replacement of a positively and negatively selectable beta-tubulin gene in tetrahymena thermophila. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 91(10):4549-53.
CommentsSomatically transformed VB1 cells with BTU1 p94c construct. p94c changes MREI at begining of coding to remove the REI. Also put the missing ā€œCā€ back into the BTU1 coding region (~ position + 1040)
