Strain NameIA251
AKAcdaI-2 VI
SpeciesT. thermophila
Genetic DescriptioncdaI-2/cdaI-2 (cdaI-2; VI)
MAC Knockins/outs
MIC Knockins/outs
Gene of InterestCDAI (cell division arrest I)
OriginGenomic exclusion progeny following an outcross to B2079-X-II of a mutant clone that resulted from nitrosoguanidine mutagenesis in 1979 of SB210 followed by cytogamy
PublicationsBriefly described in Frankel J. 2008. What do genic mutations tell us about the structural patterning of a complex single-celled organism? Eukaryot Cell 7(10):1617-39, p. 1628, with photos (Fig. 13).
CommentsAllelic to cdaI-1 (IA237) and cdaI-3 (IA282). Unequal fission-arrest following an anterior sliding of the oral primordium (39o C). Although 100% penetrant at 39o C., it is the least strongly expressed of the three known cdaI alleles; the anteriorly displaced division furrow often succeeds in completing cytokinesis, producing a small, often amacronucleate, anterior daughter cell.
