Stock IDSD01463
Strain NameIA393
AKAhpo1-1 II
SpeciesT. thermophila
Genetic Descriptionhpo1-1/hpo1-1; eja1-1/eja1-1 (hpo1-1; eja1-1; II)
MAC Knockins/outs
MIC Knockins/outs
Gene of InterestHPO1 (hypoangular)
OriginA genomic exclusion progeny following an outcross to IA264 of a mutant clone resulting from nitrosoguanidine mutagenesis of IA264 in 1988 followed by cytogamy.
PublicationsFrankel J, Jenkins LM, Nelsen EM, Stoltzman CA. 1993. Hypoangular: A gene potentially involved in specifying positional information in a ciliate, tetrahymena thermophila. Dev Biol 160(2):333-54.
CommentsA complex phenotype with contractile vacuole pores too close to the oral apparatus, and clockwise slippage of oral primordia. Located on chromosome 3, probably 3R. The phenotype is mild at 28°, much more extreme at 39°. Parent of IA466 and allelic to hpo1-3 (IA443). Probably harbors a different mutation that reduces rate of cell multiplication. It is possible, but unlikely, that this different mutation is eja1-1.
